Translation of novel strategies for joint repair from bench to bedside

Project Description

The RCSI Tissue Engineering Research Group recently developed a novel, bioactive substitute material for use in the regeneration and repair of cartilage and the underlying bone (osteochondral defects). This product closely matches the morphology and composition of osteochondral tissue. The focus of this HRB-SFI Translational Research Award project is to introduce the clinical expertise of Prof. John O’Byrne in order to bring the osteochondral defect repair product ever closer to the clinical arena.
