Laser surface fixation via interference treatment

Project Description

The main aims of this project are to develop and commercialise a new laser microtexturing process for interference fit pins that overcomes the problems of current interference fit joining systems to provide a better quality and lower cost interference joining connection. The benefits of this technology over other currently available interference fit options include that it provides improved levels of joint bond strength control, enhanced lifetime of bond strength before failure, and increased ease of fabrication and joining.
