Development of inconel and steel powders for the metal additive manufacturing processing markets
The Additive Manufacturing (i.e. 3D printing) of metal components is performed commercially as a process where a laser sinters metal powder in a progressive manner to build up the final 3D component. In project the properties of metal powder will be characterised in detail and optimised for the metal additive manufacturing market. These include powder particle morphology, size, chemical composition, flow density, emissivity, and thermal conductivity. Relevant relations with final produced metal AM components will be derived from this project.
