Critical Raw Materials for Ireland for Resource Efficient Economy (CIRCLE) is funded by the Environmental Protection Agency, Ireland and co-funded by the Geological Survey Ireland. CIRCLE project is developing first ever Critical Raw Materials assessment methodology for Ireland.
Muhannad Ahmed Obeidi
Dr Muhannad Ahmed Obeidi is Assistant Professor in Advanced Manufacturing Processes in the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering in Dublin City University. He obtained his B.Sc. degree in mechanical engineering from Baghdad University in 1988. He was employed by the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission to work on the assembly, installation, and maintenance of high precision CNC machines. Dr Obeidi completed his master’s and PhD in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at DCU in 2014 and 2018, respectively. He worked as a research assistant at the Advanced Processing Technology Centre (APT) in DCU from January 2015 till March 2018. Dr Obeidi participated in several training and activities which enhance the design, operation, and inspection skills like Design for Additive Manufacturing (UK), Laserlab Europe (Latvia), Metal 3D printing, Aconity (Germany), Optical 3D Scanning, GOM (UK), Metallurgy Lab by METPREP (UK).
Research Expertise:
Dr Obeidi’s research to date has focused in two technical/scientific areas (1) The optimization of the (AM) input processing parameters with reference to the output measures based on multiple types of metal powders, and (2) The laser processing and surface modification of metals. He was the main operator and in charge of the training of new staff and researchers for the use of the lab equipment. During his work, Dr Obeidi gain respectful experience in the use of the different characterisation and inspection instrument in DCU and other institutions across the country.
